PET Strapping , known for its high strength, corrosion resistance, safety, and environmental friendliness, has become a popular new product in the packaging field. It is widely used in various industries such as glass, wood, papermaking, ceramics, brass rods, and ingots.

PET Strapping

Main Features of PET Strapping:

Economy: Density of pet is 1/6th of steel (approx. 6 mtrs pet strap of given size is equal to weight of 1 meter steel strap). Considering meter age pet is cheaper than steel strap

High Strength: Excellent tensile strength & welding strength ensure safety of heavy packages at extreme handling.

Shock Resistance: Maintains tensile strength for a long stretch of time with minimum strap slacking while holing the package. Proper tension can be maintained without any risk to package or product.

Corrosion Free: Bing a rust free and chemical resistant material, it does not react or stain the package, product or place of storage.

Convenience: It’s flexibility makes sealing and removing operations easier and convenient.

Safety: With no sharp edges, it eliminates concerns about injuring workers during strapping, removal, storage, or handling, and prevents damage to the goods themselves

Weather Resistance: It can be stored for a longer time even in adverse temperature (between -50 to 80 degree centigrade) & moist conditions.

Advantages of PET Strapping
Common Specifications Reference

Wood & Timber Industry

Artificial boards, MDF, raw wood, furniture
Strong fastening, non-damaging to surfaces, moisture resistance
Excellent tension retention, long-term non-slackening; smooth edges won't damage wood; moisture and corrosion resistant
1608, 1609, 1610, etc.

Building Materials & Metals

Aluminum, steel, steel pipes, ceramic tiles, stone
High strength, waterproof, corrosion resistance
Tensile strength close to steel tape of the same size; rust-proof, acid and alkali resistant; ~50% lower cost than steel tape
Customized based on weight and size
Paper & Textile Industry
Paper rolls, cardboard, cotton, cloth, chemical fibers
Abrasion resistance, reliable holding force to prevent loosening
Low elongation rate ensures tight bundling; soft texture prevents damage to paper surfaces or textiles
Common widths: 16mm, 18mm, etc.

Ceramics & Glass

Ceramic products, glass, electrical appliances
Impact resistance, cushioning protection
Good flexibility and impact resistance, absorbs vibrations during transportation
Selected based on product fragility
Logistics & Home Appliances
Large equipment, refrigerators, televisions, boxed goods
Ensures cargo stability and safety during transport
High strength with some elasticity to withstand bumps; safe operation, won't damage goods
Wide applicability, chosen based on cargo weight

Selection and Usage Tips

To fully leverage the advantages of PET strapping tape, correct selection and operation are crucial.

  • Select the Appropriate Specification: The key is to consider the weight and characteristics of the cargo. Heavy goods (e.g., steel, aluminum ingots) require wider and thicker straps. For example, the specification "1608" indicates a width of 16mm and a thickness of 0.8mm, with a breaking tensile force of approximately 480 kg. For goods with fragile edges (e.g., wood, paper rolls), prioritize the flexibility and smooth surface of the PET strapping tape

  • Match the Strapping Tool: PET strapping tape can be used with manual, pneumatic, electric, or fully automatic strapping machines. The choice between using a buckle or a fusion splice (heat sealing) depends on the machine. For manual tools using buckles, joint strength is typically around 120-180 kg. For electric or pneumatic tools using fusion splices, joint strength can reach 70% to 90% of the strap's original strength, offering greater reliability. Automatic machines are significantly more efficient for high daily bundling volumes (e.g., logistics centers, large factories)

  • Check Product Quality: When selecting, check for severe twisting, cracks, perforations, or burrs on the entire roll. High-quality PET strapping tape usually has a bright, uniform color, clear embossing, and a smooth, flat surface
