Qingxing Packaging | Introduction and Application of Composite Strapping

Composite Strapping

I. Definition of Composite Strapping

Composite Strapping, also known as flexible strapping, is made of multiple strands of high-molecular polyester fibers woven together. It is used to combine scattered goods into a single unit, serving the functions of bundling and securing. Different from PP and PET strappings, the fiber filaments inside Composite Strapping can be directly observed from its appearance, making it a new type of environmentally friendly packaging material.

With the successful development of new materials and significant cost reduction in recent years, it has been widely used in industries such as steel, chemical fiber, aluminum ingot, paper making, brick kiln, screw, tobacco, electronics, textile, machinery, and wood processing.

After bundling goods, Composite Strapping can maintain the tension memory on the goods for a long time. It is not only safe and convenient to use, but also can be flexibly applied in different fields and environments due to its flexible characteristics. Composite Strapping is a very cost-effective choice—only a simple tensioner is needed as the strapping tool, which can be operated by a single person without the need for power supply, compressed air, or strapping pliers. Both its application and removal are simple and fast, and it also has high passability and foldability, ensuring high efficiency.

II. Advantages of Composite Strapping

Composite Strapping uses M-type steel wire buckles for connection. The scientific and reasonable design not only ensures firm connection, but also prevents falling off and slipping in a stable state, greatly improving work efficiency and safety during bundling and transportation.

Composite Strapping can withstand a tension of 0.5-2.6 tons and absorb more impact energy than steel strapping. Its high tension makes it suitable for bundling pallets and heavy goods, and it is not easy to break. After packaging, it has good wrapping tightness—even if the packaged goods expand or shrink during long-distance transportation, it can still maintain good tension.

Composite Strapping is relatively lightweight and has no sharp edges like steel strapping, so it will not scratch the packaged goods or hurt hands. Even when tightly bundled, it will not cause injury when cut. Compared with steel strapping of the same length, it is lighter and softer, making it easy to operate.

It can withstand changes in various climatic conditions, work normally at 130°C, and has good corrosion resistance—even usable in seawater. It will not pollute goods and can be disposed of as ordinary industrial waste, which is beneficial to environmental protection.

Composite Strapping has a bright color and does not rust. It makes the packaging beautiful and firm, enhancing the product grade.

Even in mass production, its quality remains stable, and it comes in a complete range of specifications. When used with a simple tensioner, it can be operated by a single person, improving packaging efficiency and reducing packaging costs.

III. Application Method of Composite Strapping

1. Tools for Use

(1) M-type steel wire buckles: Used with Composite Strapping (specifications: 13/16/19/25/32MM), also known as metal wire strapping buckles, steel wire strapping buckles, or circular/loop-type strapping buckles. They are made of high-quality steel wires through stamping into loops by large machinery, and undergo surface treatments such as galvanization or phosphating, which give them strong tensile strength. They are one of the most stable buckling methods in the industrial packaging industry.

Widely used in the packaging of containers, large machinery, glass, pipe fittings, oil barrels, steel, wood, paper making, chemical industry and other industries, they feature a self-locking design and come in different sizes and strength grades.

(2) Manual strapping machines: Also known as tensioners, they are tools used to tension and cut strapping after goods are bundled or packaged. The function of manual strapping machines is to tension the packaged goods, preventing them from scattering due to loose bundling during handling and storage, while ensuring neat and beautiful bundling. Made of high-quality steel bodies and hardened steel components, they are highly durable, low-cost, easy to operate by a single person, and have strong tension.

2. Strapping Method

(1) Thread the fiber strapping through the middle of the M-type steel wire buckle.

(2) Fold the fiber strapping in half, leaving a length of about 10 cm.

(3) Thread one end of the folded fiber strapping through the adjacent end of the steel wire buckle.

(4) Repeat the same operation for the other end: thread the folded fiber strapping through the middle of the steel wire buckle.

(5) Thread the gap of the fiber strapping through the steel wire buckle, and finally pull it tightly backward to form the shape as shown in the figure below.

IV. Application of Composite Strapping

Composite Strapping is suitable for sea transportation, land transportation, air transportation and high-speed rail transportation. It is widely used in industries such as containers, large machinery, military transportation, glass, pipe fittings, oil barrels, steel, wood, paper making, and chemical engineering.
